Online tools like your website (or Instagram, Pinterest, FB, etc.) are amazing! They work for you 24/7. It’s a waste of resources if we don’t use them to their fullest measure. They helps make our lives easier and allows our customer to obtain the information they want, when they want it. This is a great service, no bones about it!

However, let’s not substitute our website, or online whatever, for authentic customer interaction. Person to person, employee to customer, vendor to employee, with all these pairs you can tag on the word ‘relationship’.

You cannot tag ‘relationship’ to website-customer.

That would be weird.

You get the most bang for your buck when you train your employees to give amazing customer service. You cannot ignore the immense value of human to human connections.

Case in point. I just called a business that I frequent very often and simply needed some information.

No joke, no exaggeration, nearly every time I call someone tells me I can look at the website for the latest updated information. I GOT IT!

Damn, I don’t want to look up the information on the website, I wanted to call, so I did! Maybe I’m not near a computer. . . Maybe I just want to talk to a real person. . .

Real connections don’t happen through a website.

Connections happen between people.

Let’s not use the web as a crutch. Human to human interaction can never be replaced. When done well its value is beyond measure!
